Programme Content
Session One: Vision and Values – 26 September 2024
Your vision and values guide everything you do as a line manager – the decisions you make, how you manage your team, how you communicate upwards and how you prioritise your time. This foundational step is one we often forget to pay attention to, but it underpins everything else you will do in your role as a line manager. This session will guide you through a process to clarify your vision for your role and identify the values that will steer you.
Session Two: Setting Boundaries and Expectations – 10 October 2024
Setting boundaries and expectations for yourself and with others – your team, your manager, your peers – is essential for effective line management. Mastering this skill will make all other conversations you have with your team easier and more effective. We will share with you a tool that will help you to have powerful conversations which flow naturally.
Session Three: Productivity like a Pro! – 24 October 2024
One of the biggest challenges we hear when people first take on management responsibilities is responding to the additional workload that comes with the job. This session will provide you with a suite of productivity tools to help you reduce the workload overwhelm and become super productive.
Session Four: Challenging Conversations – 7 November 2024
Tricky conversations can be a significant cause of stress for line managers. Whether it’s influencing your own manager or communicating difficult messages to your line reports, getting clear on your intentions, messaging and delivery can boost your impact as a line manager. In this session we will explore a range of skills and tools to approach challenging conversations with confidence.
Session Five: Developing Teams – 21 November 2024
Creating high-performing teams can be one of the most rewarding elements of being a line manager. In this session we share with you the essential elements that are required for you to build and develop a great team.
Session Six: Effective Delegation – 5 December 2024
Sometimes it can feel like we have to do it all when we are managing a team. We have constant demands from all angles and we are juggling multiple priorities. Delegation is one of the most important skills you will develop as a manager. And there is an art to it. Do it badly, and you’ll create extra work for yourself and destroy the professional relationships you’ve built. We will share with you how to delegate effectively and with confidence.
Session Seven: Managing Change – 19 December 2024
Change is an ever-present feature of today’s working world and it is also one of the most stressful environments we can face. Knowing how to manage your team well through change is an essential skill. All too often, managers are left to ‘get on with it’ with little or no support. This session will guide you through three essential steps for managing any kind of change in your organisation.
Session Eight: Thriving as a Line Manager – 9 January 2025
If you are overwhelmed or on the verge of burnout, everyone suffers. Far too often we see the aftermath of a stressed out manager on their teams. You may think it’s selfish to put your needs first: it is anything but. Your team and your organisation need you to be at your best. This final session focuses on you and how you can build healthy habits to thrive rather than just survive as a high-performing manager.
